Silva Bingaz

Silva Bingaz

Silva Bingaz was born in the eastern part of Turkey as a daughter of an Armenian family.

Her first work was a slide show titled "Where, if not at home?" in 2001. This work led to another story, the story of an Iraqi refugee woman Beyan, on which Bingaz worked for three years. She has another work continuing since 2002 named "Coast".

In first of half of 2006, Bingaz was invited to Sweden by the Swedish photographer Anders Petersen and she worked in his dark room for her own photographs. She worked on the European Women Project in Paris during November 2006. In March 2010 she invited to Japan to have a 3 weeks residency in Tottori in the framework of EU Japan Festival.

In the summer 2012 she completed the series "Insider", which is commissioned by Espace Louis Vuitton for the group exhibition "Journeys: Wanderings in Contemporary Turkey".
